H.S. by Hayley Scanlan 'Tropicanamania' Pop Up !

After interning for Hayley Scanlan for around 5 weeks, I found out I got the job I had been interviewed for at Harvey Nichols!!! Can you imagine my excitement!! Unfortunately this meant cutting my internship short but I had a great time working with Hayley. This weekend is Hayley's pop up shop event held at Gallery 48 in Dundee to give you the chance to buy her fabulous new pieces before the shop takes a break for the month of July. I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch night of the pop up last night and the place was (obviously) bursting with fashionable faces and well dressed guys and girls. I also purchased a G&T which was presented in a glass the size of my head :) 

The above pics of me were taking the day after because I completely forgot on the night but this is what I wore! I of course sported my H.S. snakeskin biker skirt and a new Saint Laurent bag which I *may* have purchased from Harvey Nichols with my staff discount - ITS A REALLY GOOD DISCOUNT DO NOT JUDGE ME FOR BEING WEAK. Also, I can justify (ha) this purchase as I teamed it with this ridiculously affordable pair of platforms from Public Desire. I purchased these boots due to my extreme love for Vetements and extreme lack of money to afford Vetements. Public Desire has in fact (almost) ripped off the entire Vetements shoe collection...  But 0 guilt from me because I am not fishing out £1000 for a pair of shoes I can barely walk in, amiright? Yandy

Recently, I was lucky enough to be contacted by lingerie website Yandy and told to pick out a few of my favourite pieces in exchange for some Pinterest action promoting their gorgeous new range of bras. It's always exciting when brands get in touch with proposals like this and of course I took the opportunity to indulge in more fishnet items... On top of a few really cute dresses, I also got this J Valentine light up coat (I would have photographed it in action but this is super hard to do when you're not a photographer and have no idea how to work your DSLR to the best of it's abilities...). I am currently awaiting an invitation to a rave to really put this awesome ensemble to use but for now I have been teaming this adorable cropped coat with high waisted skirts and jeans. 

A fishnet dress is a totally wearable piece in my opinion and I was worried this one might come up a little short but it was the complete opposite. This baby can stretch down to your knees and, believe it or not, it is super comfy. The lil tube dress I'm wearing under it is just $5(!!!!!) and feels as though it's almost made of swimsuit material. Great quality for the price.. plus it sits perfectly underneath the fishnet number. Both come in different colours so don't let the neon pink put you off.

The masses of pieces available on Yandy can be daunting but it is worth having a browse, plus the shoes are to die for...  A lot of pieces aren't for the faint hearted but I would highly recommend it for affordable undies and uber cool fishnet tops. Pink Dreamzzzzz

During a recent trip to TK Maxx, on top of an armful of heavily discounted Wildfox, Zadig et Voltaire and Moschino, I added this super cute Phoebe X Illustrated People pencil skirt before heading straight to the changing rooms... It was the only thing I walked out with. I'm quite often on the Illustrated People website but have never been keen enough to buy anything and I remember wanting this skirt when it first came out. Obviously after I found it for £16 at TK Maxx I had to have it. Apologies for choosing a pretty hard to find skirt however the Illustrated People website has hundreds of cute skirts that will fit you like a dream! Also, this fishnet top is my new staple. Not only is it perfect over a pretty bra if you're feeling daring on a night out but it also looks great layered under t-shirts - plus it's a steal at $16 (and they've got HEAPS of different colours)...

Swimwear 2016..

Swimwear. Where do you even start? 

Safe prediction? No more Triangl nonsense. Please. I mean they're durable and kinda cool except for the fact everyone has one and their new releases look like Hollister's bikinis had a scuba update. My favourite pieces this season involve very expensive US based brands that I simply cannot justify purchasing because how many times is a Scottish girl gonna swim in the sea or a pool that isn't indoors? Maybe once on a week long holiday in Italy or a month in the States if you're lucky but I really don't swim or tan enough to justify an expensive costume. 

Having just said that however, ASOS have started stocking risky (and pricey) American brand 'Minimale Animale' which I found out today whilst trolling their 'New In' section (something that must be done weekly to keep on top of things) and Urban Outfitters just released a collection with Calvin Klein. Safe to say, both are pretty cool but swimwear never usually has a solid trend each year as all shapes and styles are acceptable in this day and age - one piece, tankini, bikini, cut out etc etc. I try to avoid trend buying when it comes to swimwear (aside from that Triangl purchase made on a whim two years ago) and go for something classic (and comfy where possible). Although if I had a body like Keller Rose to pull off Minimale Animale I would consider sacrificing both attributes. 

My holidays this Summer are not yet determined but I'm hoping for some excuse to buy the cool, chunky (my mind fails to think of a better word) orange Calvin Klein two piece that has just become available for pre-order on UrbanOutfitters.com. Despite this, I know loads of people with flights booked to majestic countries already so I hoped this blog post would maybe help them with their swimwear shopping because no matter how many times you tell yourself the expensive swimsuit you're about to buy is an investment and will last for years, you always end up wanting a new one every Summer.. Face it.

I hope I may have saved at least one of you the hassle of swimwear shopping this year/cut the ever long search shorter. I even stressed out just making this blogpost. Something I find even worse than swimwear shopping however is sandal shopping. How much of a nightmare was that when you were in high school? Thank God Birkenstocks are cool now. Although if I were you I'd hit up Whistles' latest suede update on their famous Rada sandals before they sell out for Summer.. The black ones have already gone!
